Help with Sounds

If the Sounds of King Alfred's Grammar are not working for you, you need to make sure that your browser is using the correct plug-in to play them.

A. For a Netscape Browser:

Go to Preferences under the Edit menu.

Under Navigator, select Applications.

Scroll down until you see "WAV Audio" in the left hand column.

If the application listed in the right hand column is not "Quicktime Plug-In" select "Edit."

Click "Plug-in" and select "Quicktime Plug-In" from the pull-down menu (Note: if "Quicktime Plug-in is not an option, skip to section C below.

Click "Ok"

Click "Ok" again.

The Sounds should now work.

B. For Internet Explorer:

Go to Preferences under the Edit menu.

Click on File Helpers under the Receiving Files category.

Scroll down until you see "Windows WAV Sound" in the left hand column.

Click "Change."

Click "Browse" and find the "Quicktime Plug-in" and select it. (Note: if you do not have the "Quicktime Plug-in," skip to section C below.

Click "Ok."

Click "Ok" again.

The Sounds should now work.

C. If you don't have the Quicktime Plug-in installed, run the installer located on the King Alfred CD in the Quicktime folder (in that folder you will find sub-folders for both PC and Macintosh; choose the approriate one).

Once you have run the Quicktime Installer, follow the instructions listed in above in A (for Netscape) or B (for Internet Explorer).
